Behind the Photography – How Euphor Shoots Its Product Photography: The Brief, the Location, the Models, the Lighting, the Editing, and What Gets Rejected

A Product Photo Is a Promise.

When you buy a Euphor piece online – whether it’s our Oversized Classic T-Shirt, our Terry Oversized Tee, or our Ringer T-Shirt – you’re buying based on a photograph. You can’t feel the 220 GSM fabric. You can’t check the shoulder seam placement. You can’t see how the colorway looks in natural light vs studio light. You’re trusting the photograph to tell you the truth about the product.

That’s a significant responsibility. A product photo that makes a tee look better than it is creates a customer who receives something that doesn’t match their expectation. A product photo that undersells the tee creates a customer who almost didn’t buy something they would have loved.

Our goal is neither. Our goal is accuracy – a photograph that shows the product exactly as it is, in the best possible light, without misrepresenting anything.

This is how we do it.

The Brief – What We’re Trying to Achieve

Every Euphor shoot starts with a brief. The brief answers three questions:

1. What does the product need to communicate?
For a new colorway on the Oversized Classic T-Shirt, the primary job of the photograph is color accuracy. For a new silhouette like the Oversized Raglan, the primary job is fit – showing how the garment sits on a body. For the Terry Oversized Tee, the primary job is texture and weight – showing the fabric’s structure and drape.

2. Who is wearing it?
Euphor’s product photography uses Indian models – specifically because our customers are Indian and the product is designed for Indian body proportions. A colorway that looks great on a Western model may look different on Indian skin. We test on a range of Indian skin tones before finalising the shoot.

3. What is the visual context?
Euphor’s aesthetic is premium and minimal. Our photography reflects that – clean backgrounds, controlled lighting, editorial framing. We don’t shoot in busy environments, we don’t use props that distract from the product, and we don’t use styling that competes with the garment.

The Location – Studio vs Natural Light

Most Euphor product photography is shot in a controlled studio environment. This is a deliberate choice – not a limitation.

Why studio: Studio lighting is consistent and controllable. We can ensure that the colorway looks the same in every shot, that the fabric texture reads correctly, and that the background doesn’t compete with the product. Natural light is beautiful but variable – it changes through the day, through the season, and through the weather.

The studio setup: Solid light grey background (#E9E9E9 – our standard). Even, professional lighting from multiple sources to eliminate harsh shadows. No dramatic effects, no rim lighting, no creative lighting that makes the product look different from how it looks in real conditions.

When we shoot outside the studio: Lifestyle shots – the secondary images that show the product in context rather than isolation. These are shot in real environments (Bangalore rooftops, Mumbai streets, Delhi parks) to show how the Classic T-Shirt or Terry Tee looks in the conditions our customers actually wear it in. But the primary product shot is always studio.

The Models – Who We Shoot With and Why

Euphor shoots with Indian models. This is non-negotiable – not a preference, a requirement.

Why Indian models: Our customers are Indian. The product is designed for Indian body proportions. A colorway that looks great on a Western model may look different on Indian skin. A fit that looks correct on a Western body may look different on an Indian body. We need our photography to show the Oversized Classic T-Shirt and Ringer T-Shirt as they will look on our customers – not as they look on a body that doesn’t represent them.

Model selection: We shoot with both male and female models across a range of Indian skin tones. For each shoot, we typically use 2 male and 2 female models with distinct facial features and body types.

Poses: Standardised across shoots for consistency. Female models: hands in pockets (primary), hand on hip (secondary). Male models: arms crossed (primary), hands in pockets casual (secondary). The poses are chosen to show the garment’s fit clearly.

Framing: Head to under the waist for most shots. This shows the shoulder seam placement, the chest fit, the body length, and the sleeve length – the four fit points from the Size & Fit Guide.

The Lighting – Even, Professional, Accurate

Lighting is where most product photography goes wrong. Dramatic lighting makes products look more interesting in isolation but less accurate in reality. A Classic T-Shirt shot with rim lighting looks more editorial than the same tee shot with even lighting – but the rim-lit version doesn’t show you what the tee actually looks like.

Our lighting standard: Even, professional studio lighting from multiple sources. No dramatic effects. No rim lighting. No creative lighting that changes how the colorway reads. The goal is to show the product as it looks in good indoor light – the conditions most of our customers will wear it in.

Why this matters for colorways: Lighting dramatically affects how colors read. A charcoal Classic T-Shirt shot with warm lighting looks brown. The same tee shot with cool lighting looks almost black. Our even studio lighting is calibrated to show colorways as they actually are.

The background: Solid #E9E9E9 light grey. This is our standard across all product photography. It’s neutral enough not to affect how the colorway reads, and consistent enough that all our product shots look like they belong to the same brand.

The Editing – What We Do and Don’t Change

What we edit: Exposure and white balance correction to ensure the colorway reads accurately. Minor blemish removal on the garment (loose threads, dust). Background cleanup to ensure the #E9E9E9 is consistent across shots.

What we don’t edit: Colorway saturation or hue. Fabric texture – the texture of the Terry Oversized Tee is part of what you’re buying. Model skin tone or body shape.

The standard: If you receive a Euphor piece and it looks different from the product photo, we’ve failed. Our editing standard is calibrated to prevent that failure.

What Gets Rejected – The Shots That Don’t Make It

For every product shot that makes it to the website, 3–5 don’t. Here’s what gets rejected and why:

  • Color inaccuracy: If the shot makes the colorway look different from how it actually looks, it’s rejected. We’d rather reshoot than publish a photo that misrepresents the color of our Classic T-Shirt or Ringer T-Shirt.
  • Fit issues: If the shot makes the fit look wrong – shoulder seam not sitting correctly, chest pulling, hem riding up – it’s rejected.
  • Lighting inconsistency: If the lighting creates shadows or highlights that make the product look different from our standard, it’s rejected.
  • Background issues: If the background isn’t the correct #E9E9E9 or has inconsistencies, it’s rejected.

Why This Matters for You

Every decision in our photography process – the studio setup, the Indian models, the even lighting, the conservative editing – is made with one goal: to show you exactly what you’re buying before you buy it. Whether that’s the Oversized Classic T-Shirt, the Terry Oversized Tee, the Ringer T-Shirt, or the Oversized Raglan.

Frequently Asked Questions – Photography

Q: Why do your product photos look different from other streetwear brands?
A: We prioritise accuracy over aesthetics. Our photography is designed to show the product as it actually looks – not to create a mood or an editorial.

Q: Why do you use Indian models?
A: Because our customers are Indian and the product is designed for Indian body proportions.

Q: Why is the background always the same grey?
A: Consistency and accuracy. The #E9E9E9 background is neutral enough not to affect how the colorway reads, and consistent enough that all our product shots look like they belong to the same brand.

Q: Do you retouch the models?
A: Minor blemish removal only. We don’t retouch skin tone, body shape, or anything that would misrepresent how the product looks on a real body.

Q: Where can I buy tonight’s drop?
A: The Photo Drop (Oversized Classic T-Shirt, 2 new colorways) goes live at 9 PM IST tonight at euphorbliss.in. 25 pieces per colorway.
