Size & Fit #6 – The Indian Body Type Fit Guide: Dressing for Your Build

August 6, 2026 – 8 PM IST – The Size & Fit Guide #6: Series Finale

The Indian Body Type Fit Guide – How Different Indian Body Types Interact with Euphor’s Sizing, and Specific Recommendations for Every Build

There Is No Average Body. There Is Only Your Body.

Every sizing guide assumes an average. The average chest. The average shoulder width. The average height. The average proportion between chest and shoulder.

Most Indian men don’t fit the average. They’re lean with narrow shoulders. Or athletic with broad shoulders and a defined chest. Or broad-shouldered with a narrower chest. Or taller than the size chart assumes. Or shorter.

This guide is for all of them. Specific recommendations for every Indian body type – how each build interacts with Euphor’s sizing on the Oversized Classic T-Shirt, the Terry Oversized Tee, and the Ringer T-Shirt – which size to choose, and how to style each build for the best result.

The series finale of The Size & Fit Guide. The most specific post we’ve written.

The 5 Indian Body Types – And How Each Fits Euphor

Build 1: The Lean Build

Characteristics: Narrow chest (under 90 cm), narrow shoulders, lean frame. Height typically 165–175 cm. Chest and shoulder measurements usually align to the same size.

How Euphor fits the lean build

Euphor’s relaxed fit has 8–10 cm of chest ease – which on a lean frame can read as more generous than intended. The Classic T-Shirt will have room, which is correct for a relaxed fit, but may feel like more ease than you’re used to if you’ve been wearing slim-fit tees.

The shoulder seam will sit correctly if you use your measured size. The body length will be proportional. The sleeve will hit at mid-bicep.

Sizing recommendation – lean build

For tees (Classic T-Shirt, Ringer T-Shirt): Your measured size. If you prefer a closer fit, size down one size – the smaller size will still have enough ease to be comfortable, and the silhouette will look more intentional on a lean frame.
For the Terry Oversized Tee: Your measured size. The 10–12 cm of ease will feel generous on a lean frame – this is correct for layering. If you primarily wear it alone and prefer a closer fit, size down.
For the Oversized Raglan: Your measured size. The drawstring waist accommodates lean frames well.

Styling the lean build

What works: Relaxed fit tees in your measured size or one size down. Layering – a Classic T-Shirt under the Terry Tee adds visual weight and dimension. Darker colorways (black, charcoal, navy) create a more defined silhouette.
What to avoid: Sizing up significantly – the extra ease will look like the tee is too big rather than intentionally oversized.

Build 2: The Athletic Build

Characteristics: Broad shoulders, defined chest, typically 95–105 cm chest, 46–50 cm shoulders. Shoulder measurement often points to a larger size than chest measurement. Height typically 170–180 cm.

How Euphor fits the athletic build

The athletic build is the most common between-sizes challenge. Shoulders fit a larger size. Chest fits a smaller size. The shoulder seam rule applies: take the larger size. The chest will have more ease than ideal, but the shoulder seam will sit correctly – which matters more.

On an athletic build, Euphor’s relaxed fit reads as intentional – the extra chest ease doesn’t look sloppy because the shoulder seam is sitting correctly and the fabric has enough weight (220 GSM on the Classic T-Shirt, 260 GSM on the Terry Tee) to drape well.

Sizing recommendation – athletic build

For tees (Classic T-Shirt, Ringer T-Shirt): Size to your shoulder measurement, not your chest measurement. If your shoulders fit a large and your chest fits a medium, take the large.
For the Terry Oversized Tee: Same rule – size to your shoulder measurement. The additional ease means the chest will feel comfortable even in the larger size.
For the Oversized Raglan: Size to your waist measurement. Athletic builds typically have proportional waist and hip measurements.

Styling the athletic build

What works: Your measured size (sized to shoulders). The relaxed fit reads as intentional on an athletic frame. Neutral colorways on the Classic T-Shirt (black, charcoal, stone) – they let the silhouette speak.
What to avoid: Sizing down to the chest measurement – the shoulder seam will pull toward the neck and the tee will look too small.

Build 3: The Broad-Shouldered, Narrower Chest Build

Characteristics: Wide shoulders relative to chest circumference. Shoulders may measure 48–52 cm while chest measures 90–96 cm. This proportion is common in Indian men with a naturally wide skeletal frame but leaner body composition.

How Euphor fits the broad-shouldered, narrower chest build

This is the most challenging build for standard sizing. The shoulder measurement points to a larger size. The chest measurement points to a smaller size. Taking the larger size (correct for the shoulder seam) results in more chest ease than ideal.

The answer is always: size to the shoulder measurement. A shoulder seam that sits correctly is the foundation of a well-fitting Classic T-Shirt or Ringer T-Shirt. The extra chest ease reads as a relaxed fit – not as a tee that’s too big – because the shoulder seam is anchoring the garment correctly.

Sizing recommendation – broad-shouldered, narrower chest

For tees: Size to your shoulder measurement. Always. The chest ease will be more generous than ideal, but the shoulder seam will sit correctly.
For the Terry Oversized Tee: Size to your shoulder measurement. The additional ease means the chest will feel comfortable.
For the Oversized Raglan: Size to your waist measurement. The drawstring accommodates this well.

Styling the broad-shouldered, narrower chest build

What works: Relaxed fit tees sized to the shoulder. Layering – the Terry Tee or Raglan over a Classic T-Shirt adds chest volume that balances the shoulder width.
What to avoid: Sizing to the chest measurement – the shoulder seam will hang off the shoulder and the tee will look wrong.

Build 4: The Fuller Chest Build

Characteristics: Fuller chest relative to shoulder width. Chest measurement 100–110+ cm. Common in men with a naturally fuller torso or those who carry weight in the chest and upper body.

How Euphor fits the fuller chest build

Euphor’s 8–10 cm of chest ease on the Classic T-Shirt is designed to accommodate a range of chest sizes within each size range. A fuller chest at the top of a size range will have less ease than a leaner chest at the bottom of the same range – but both should be comfortable.

Sizing recommendation – fuller chest build

For tees (Classic T-Shirt, Ringer T-Shirt): Try your measured size first. If the chest pulls or the fabric strains horizontally, size up.
For the Terry Oversized Tee: Your measured size or one size up. The additional ease accommodates a fuller chest well. If you layer a tee underneath, size up.
For the Oversized Raglan: Size to your waist measurement. The drawstring accommodates variation.

Styling the fuller chest build

What works: Relaxed fit tees in your measured size or one size up. Darker colorways on the Classic T-Shirt (black, charcoal, navy). Layering an open Terry Tee – the open layer creates a vertical line that balances the chest.
What to avoid: Very tight fits – they emphasise the chest in a way that can look uncomfortable.

Build 5: The Taller-Than-Average Build

Characteristics: Height 180 cm+. Chest and shoulder measurements may fit a standard size, but body length and sleeve length feel short on the Classic T-Shirt or Ringer T-Shirt.

How Euphor fits the taller-than-average build

Euphor calibrates body length for Indian height ranges (165–175 cm for most sizes). At 180 cm+, the body length of your measured size may feel slightly short – the hem may not cover the waistband with the full 5–10 cm of clearance.

The solution is to size up for body length, even if the chest and shoulders fit the smaller size. The larger size will have a longer body and longer sleeves – at the cost of slightly more chest ease.

Sizing recommendation – taller-than-average build

For tees (Classic T-Shirt, Ringer T-Shirt): If your height is 180–185 cm, try your measured size first. If the body length feels short, size up. If your height is 185 cm+, size up from your measured size as a starting point.
For the Terry Oversized Tee: Same rule – size up if body length feels short.
For the Oversized Raglan: Size to your waist measurement. Length is less critical here.

Styling the taller-than-average build

What works: Sizing up for body length – the extra chest ease reads as a relaxed fit on a taller frame. Layering the Raglan or Terry Tee over a Classic T-Shirt adds visual weight that balances a tall, lean frame.
What to avoid: Sizing to the chest measurement if the body length feels short – a tee that rides up looks wrong regardless of how the chest fits.
